The busy seaport of Danang in central Vietnam is the country’s fourth-largest city. The French named the city Tourane after it succeeded Hoi An (Faifo) as a vital deep water trading port in the 19th century. More recently, Danang was made famous in the Hollywood film “Good Morning Vietnam”.
Prior to WWII, Hue had been the capital of Vietnam and the residents of this city act as if Hue still is. The city has a long and distinguished history. When the Americans returned to re-take the city, Hue was virtually destroyed in over ten days of terrible conflicts.
Hue was once ancient capital of Vietnam. A cruise on the Perfume River is a scenic way to explore Hue. Another highlight of the trip is Hoian. Spend your time walking over the Japanese Bridge, visiting the different Chinese Assembly Halls and pagodas
Phong Nha cave is explored mainly by boat, though there are a couple of raised areas where your guide will walk you around and explain the various points of interest. The cave was not officially surveyed until 1990, however, the cave walls show evidence of it being a popular place to visit for quite some time
